Museum Amstelkring is a 17th century bourgeois house in the centre of Amsterdam. The museum is mostly renowned for its secretive hidden church in the attic. During the 17th century Catholics were prohibited from practising their religion. However some faithful Catholics continued to worship in hidden churches, of which the “Our Lord in The Attic” is the only surviving example. Among other religious artefacts, the museum houses several exquisite furniture pieces, table clocks and two kitchens covered with Delft tiles.
