Begijnhof is a charming small square just a stone's throw away from Spui Square.This former 14th century convent was transformed into a residential buildings, surrounded by pretty gardens and a well kept courtyard. House no. 34 is the oldest wooden house in the country. There's a plaque describing the interesting history of the buildings at the entrance between Nieuwezijds and the Esprit Cafe.
