Surprisingly enough this museum is located in the wooded parkland of the Hoge Veluwe. The National Park de Hoge Veluwe is about 70 kilometers east of Amsterdam. Once arrived at the entrance of the park, you can either drive or borrow a white bicycle free of charge to travel the few kilometres to the museum itself.
This museum offers a collection of 275 works by Van Gogh and works by other Dutch painters and some French Impressionists.
In fact many probably don't realize that apart from the Van Gogh Museum there is another museum in The Netherlands, with the second largest collection of Van Gogh works in the world. There are also works by Picasso, Redon, Juan Gris, Seurat and Mondriaan. Together with sculpture exhibits, the outdoor sculpture garden being the largest in Europe, makes this museum an art lover's dream.
Besides, the museum offers picniking, hicking and recreation areas when one can relax while the children paly on the grass.
