Lindengracht market, literally meaning the lime tree canal originated around the end of the 19th century when the canal was filled up and turned into a street with a centre strip of lime trees. Nowadays, the Lindengracht market, together with the Farmer’s market, is the best food market in Amsterdam. The market has about 230 stalls offering the best quality food and fruits as well as some other general goods.
